When should I use the Red light therapy?

This really depends on what you may be using this therapy for and what benefits youretargeting. For sleep improvements and muscle recovery and repair it is best to use this services later in the day closer to your sleep time and also after your daily activities or training session. For improvement is pain, joint mobility and brain function it is recommended to use it more in the morning to get the improvements and benefits for use throughout the day. Of course there can be ideal times, however regardless of when you use this service your body will be reaping benefits and functioning better.

How often should I use Red Light therapy?

We recommend for general health benefits such as skin health, brain function and sleep regulation, try to use the red light therapy 2-3 times per week. For wound healing and tissue repair we recommend a period of daily use to help improve the body’s healing processes.

How long is a red light therapy session?

Most of the benefits are consistent with the timing of red light therapy use, and we recommend 15-20mins in the RLT bed.

What are the age restrictions for using the red light therapy?

Children between 10-14 years need adult supervision and consent for this service and we do not allow children under 10 to use our services.

Can this benefit children as well as adults?

Yes, the red light therapy can be very beneficial for young people who may be wanting to use it for the skin health and clarity benefits if struggling with acne or other skin conditions or for improved sleep cycle and quality.

Who shouldn’t or cannot use the red light therapy bed?

RED LIGHT THERAPY

Our Red Light Therapy bed is a private service. It is also a dry service that has a total treatment time of 20 minutes. We recommend bringing a change of clothes and water.

Red light therapy is within the family of infrared therapies however operates with a smaller bandwidth light source of 620-700nm, and more prominently penetrate the skin and surface tissues.

These red light waves have an effect on the mitochondria within our cells, which are known as the powerhouse of cells. They are responsible for creating ATP or energy which the cell uses to carry out their functions.

These cellular functions include reducing inflammation, fighting bacteria, collagen production, tissue healing and wound recovery.

As the mitochondria create more energy, these cells can function at a greater more efficient rate resulting in better activity within the body. Increases in vasodilation also increase circulation throughout the body.

HYPERBARIC

OXYGEN THERAPY

Increase oxygen intake in our hyperbaric chamber to boost energy, reduce brain fog and improve immunity.

Sessions are 60 minutes long at a maximum pressure of 1.35 ATA

(equivalent to 3.5m under sea level)

The Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, also known as HBOT, is an advanced therapy which increases the body’s ability to uptake and utilise oxygen to improve tissue function and support the body’s natural healing processes.

The increased concentration of oxygen in your lungs while within the chamber allows for increased diffusion of oxygen to the body and the blood stream.

The increased pressure of the oxygen also results in increased concentration of oxygen into the blood which allows for greater potential for use and improved tissue and body healing.

CONTRAST

WATER THERAPY

Relax and rejuvenate with our contrast pools and sauna's.

The 45 minute session allows you to access the sauna's on the pool deck + all the contrast magnesium pools.

We recommend bringing a towel, water bottle and change of clothes.

Note: Towels are compulsory to take with you into the traditional rock sauna

A contrast water therapy session involves up to 45minutes of alternating between our hot and cold magnesium pools which are approximately 39* and 8* respectively.

When exposing the body to alternating temperature pools your blood vessels constrict and expand which reduces and then increases the flow of blood and fresh oxygen throughout the body.

In addition to the circulatory and oxygen increases, the cold water immersion, like a cold pack, aids in reducing swelling and inflammation, and the hot water immersion, like a heat pack, improves tissue pliability and joint mobility.

FULL BODY CRYO

Step into our cryotherapy chamber to reduce inflammation, boost your metabolism & improve skin.

This is one of our most popular services, for reducing inflammation and providing a boost of energy.

The session goes for 3-4 minutes. We provide everything you need, however all jewellery will need to be removed before entering the chamber.

Our big freezer cryotherapy machine is set to -87* C and after a short 3 minute session it cools your core temperature and causes your body to enter a productive survival mode.

Circulatory changes via vascular constriction then dilation result in freshly oxygenated blood rushing throughout the body and causing a strong endorphin release. This cooling session reduces systemic inflammation and leaves you feeling refreshed, energised and set for improved function.

INFRARED SAUNA

Infrared technology heats your body directly to promote detoxification & boost immunity.

All sauna sessions are privately booked, available in 30mins, 45 mins or 60 mins.

Our Sunlighten saunas are the only saunas that use near, mid and far infrared wavelengths to penetrate deeper into the body to warm your body directly rather that the air around you. The various wavelengths target varying depths of tissues within the body to maximise the benefits you experience.

When the body is exposed to controlled stresses such as temperature changes, it undergoes an immune strengthening response by increasing the production of white blood cells. The increased heat also results in increased circulation, respiratory rate and sweating which all improve the body’s removal techniques as well as increasing the available oxygen to be used within the body.

COMPRESSION

Flush out lactic acid & increase blood flow to reduce muscle soreness with compression boots in our recovery cinema.

The session is 45 minutes, with the option of leg, hip and arm attachments*. The recovery cinema is a perfect way to catch up on some work, tune into one of our streaming services on the TV or have a snooze 💤

Our Normatec Compression garments are specifically designed to help with muscle and tissue recovery, as well as being extremely effective at fluid removal. Each compartment inflates to selected pressures and progressively massage and “squeeze” your legs/hips to manage fluid and blood flow throughout the leg.

Fluid is moved centrally toward the heart to reduce swelling, and fresh blood is flushed through the limb during the decompression phase for increased muscle healing and recovery and reduced tension and stiffness.

We have recovery boots and hip garments so ask the staff which may be most beneficial for you.

For Red light therapy it uses more narrow bandwidth 620-700nm compared with IR sauna that uses near IR 700-1000nm and far IR 3000+. The difference between these light wave length is the tissues that they target, with the more narrow of the red light therapy targeting the more superficial tissues including the skin.
